WHAT ARE UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN?
Unaccompanied Children are children who...
- Have no lawful immigration status in the United States
- Are fleeing unfortunate circumstances in their home country
- Arrive in the United States without parents, legal guardians, or adult family members
- Although they often come from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, or Mexico, can come from any country in the world and are under 18 years of age
HOW IS MCHS HELPING?
Through our Long Term Foster Care program for unaccompanied refugee children, we’re helping to rewrite stories of trauma and loss by providing home studies, case management, and resources for long-term foster care placement. Together, we can impact the future of children in need and rewrite their story, one with an ending that includes a bright future and the connection and stability of a family.

OUR GOALS
REUNITE
Our primary goal is the reunification of unaccompanied children with their parents or other family members living in the U.S.
CONNECT
We seek out friends and family members of unaccompanied children to serve as sponsors, who will provide care once the child has entered the U.S.
NURTURE
When reunification is not possible, we help to find foster parent(s) who can provide a temporary safe and loving home.
